Cooking chicken wings in 3 different methods - how long should you cook them?

In my last post I talked about one of the easiest chicken wing recipes. Now today I'll discuss how long you should cook the chicken wings using different methods. You'll see you can cook chicken wings in various ways. You can bake them or deep fry them. Another widely followed method is pan frying the chicken wings. Now here I will briefly talk about all these methods and you can choose one that suits you best

Now before cooking the chicken wings make sure that they're properly thawed. You can do this by keeping the wings in the refrigerator for couple of days prior to cooking. When you're ready to cook the wings, first wash them properly in cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.

If you're pan frying the wings, you'll need a large frying pan. First pour some oil into the pan and heat to medium high-heat. When the oils hot enough, add the chicken wings to the pan in a single layer. You need to cook the wings for about 6 to 7 minutes. Then roll them over and cook them for 6 to 7 minutes more. I'd recommend using a wok to fry the wings. This way you'll get crispy and juicy chicken wings.

Another method that you may want to try is simply baking the chicken wings. In my last article I prepared baked chicken wings with BBQ sauce, but they are equally good plain. By baking them you will not be getting the wings as crispy as pan frying but it is the healthier way to cook them. Once again baking the chicken wings, you need to heat the oven to 220C. Add the wings in a little non-stick cooking spray coated glass baking dish and then bake them for around 30 to 40 minutes.

If you're planning to deep fry the wings then first make sure that they are dry enough before putting them in the hot oil. This way you will be able to avoid the splatters. For cooking the chicken wings through this method, you will need to heat the oil to 180C. Once the oil is ready, add a single layer of chicken wings into the fryer basket. Make sure that the wings are just covered by the oil once you lower them into the oil. Lower the wings gently into the oil and then cook them for about 12 to 15 minutes. This way you will get the chicken wings nicely browned and crispy on the outside while the inner portion will remain juicy.
