Cover Recipe: "Syrian Bread."

Syrian Bread

1200 ml,  water

2 tbsp,  vegetable oil

0.50 tsp,  white sugar

1.50 tsp,  salt

250 g,  all-purpose flour

1.50 tsp,  active dry yeast

  1. Preheat oven to 475 degrees F (245 degrees C).
  2. In a bread machine pan, place all the ingredients in the same order and process the ingredients as suggested by the manufacturer. Check the dough after 5 minutes of processing; check the consistency and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed.
  3. When the dough comes to a good consistency, turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Leave it for 30 minutes to rise.
  4. Gently roll and stretch dough into a 12 inch rope. Cut into 8 equal pieces. Make it as a smooth ball. Cover the balls with a damp cloth and allow it to rest.
  5. Roll each ball into a 6 to 7 inch circle. Cover rolled out dough with a towel.
  6. Cook two at a time on preheated baking sheets or a baking stone until puffed up and golden brown, about 5 minutes. Repeat for remaining loaves.
