Sour Cream Pound Cake

235 ml,  Butter

650 ml,  sugar

5 ml,  eggs

705 ml,  flour

1 ml,  baking soda

235 ml,  sour cream

5 ml,  vanilla

5 ml,  grated lemon or orange rind


  1. Heat oven to a temperature of 175° C to 350°.Grease the pan with butter or oil. Line the tube with wax paper if desired.
  2. Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix flour and baking soda together; sift 3 times.
  5. Add dry mixture alternately with sour cream, to butter mixture; beat until smooth.
  6. Add flavorings.
  7. Pour batter into cake pan.
  8. Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes.
  9. Test for doneness with metal skewer or toothpick.
  10. Remove from oven; allow to cool on rack for 5 minutes before removing paper.
